In most craft fairs you can see a lot of particular crafts like handmade bead jewelry. While there is nothing wrong in making this type of craft on your own, it might not be a good idea if you want your craft to be a best seller. Creating something that many other people already sell and create will only take you up on a market with very high competition. If your goal is to make sales and earn money from crafts, then create something new, something unique and something that buyers will hardly find in stores or craft fairs. The Art of Being Creative With Crafts Without a Supply List

It wasn't that long after I began my website about crafts and activities for kids that I began to get questions about my supply list. I guess a better way to put that is that I got many emails about my lack of a supply list. The answer that I give is that I left the supply list off of most my crafts and activities on purpose. I feel like supply lists can crush your creativity.

This is not to say that I don't tell you what I use and how I make the various fun craft ideas for kids on my website or how to do the various children's activities. I do give a detailed description for each project and that, in turn, will give you an idea of what I used. However, I am not going to tell you what you HAVE to have in order to do each craft or activity. I decided very early on in the process that if I gave a supply list and the reader didn't have that particular supply then they might just skip over the craft thinking that they can't do it.

Handicrafts, A Treasure Since Inception

India, from its very ancient and Vedic times has been known for its handicraft skills and people who pursue handicrafts. Handicraft industry was use to be one of the most popular cottage industry of all times, and it did provide a lot of jobs to the people around the country, and has been doing it up till and until now. When modern era started to came into being, the popularity of the same started going very rapidly, and soon captured the market, and thereby the demand for handicraft industry gone rampant.

This scenario changed the entire marketing of the business, and now the demands started coming from foreign countries as well, and the export mechanism came into being. And hence Indian Gifts & Handicrafts became a gateway to ethnic India, which displays the best of the handicrafts from the country. The system started providing the visitors an easy access to product information, latest write-ups, articles and much more features that were earlier unexpected, and hence the "trade" became more and more friendly. The Indian Handicrafts have thus, made an invincible entry in the international trade.

Now, one the system of export and import was well established, the next factor was "cost". Since handicraft are much of labor intensive, outsourcing any external items were not much in use, and hence more and innovative people started vesting their interest into it. After the "market" and "cost" being managed, now comes the "handicraft gift items", the Indian handicrafts gifts. Their reflection were seen in "paper products", religious products, toys and dolls, home products and Antiques, nautical products, garments, garden accessories, furniture, paintings, decorative items, table accessories, Antique Armory, Home Furnishing, Jewelry and many other useful products and today it is one of the most rejuvenating and successful market in the country.

Next coming to the kind of products that are designed by craft manufacturers in Uttar Pradesh, manufacturers of handicraft items are, wooden handicraft, animals handicraft, bar accessories, baskets, bath accessories, candle stand, door knob, figures, fire sets, etc. In Rajasthan, it includes paintings, designer jewelry, gemstone sculptures, stone handicraft, wooden handicraft, lamp shades, ornamental dagger, terracotta candle, cloth painting, embroidery painting, marble painting and many more. hence we can conclude that, diversity of the handicrafts is not only a profession of a certain restricted area, but it gigantically varies with the quality of people, geographical factors and too much on how well the available demographics is converted in required goods and design.

Fun Halloween Crafts for Kids and Adults

Halloween crafts are a lot of fun to make with both kids and adults. Last year I threw a party for my girlfriends where we all made Halloween crafts. Everyone brought a couple supplies and we spent the evening making different crafts. It was so much fun my girlfriends made me promise to do it again this year! I am already planning some new craft ideas, and today I will mention a few great ideas I have uncovered.

The first cute Halloween craft idea is to make specimen jars. This is actually a very inexpensive craft and something anyone can do, even children. I found several glass jars at the dollar store and this will be the base for the craft. You simply want to fill them with water and add the "specimens". Things like funny eyeballs, crazy teeth, or other craft supplies make cute and funny specimen jars. If you want to do something more spooky think about using cauliflower for pickled brains!

Sock skeleton is one of my favorite craft ideas! You can transform a white sock into a cute and cuddly skeleton with the use of some thread and buttons for eyes. If you are someone who likes to sew, this is the perfect Halloween craft! This is also a great craft for kids because they get to keep the soft skeleton all year-long.

Make Some Fun Halloween Crafts This Year!

Halloween is one of my favorite Holidays because there is so much to do! From haunted hay rides, to apple bobbing, and trick-or-treating there is always some fun to be had. In my family one of our favorite things to do is make Halloween crafts and decorations. Most of the projects are very inexpensive and are perfect for the whole family to make. Everything from felt ghosts to crocheted skeletons can be made with ease on this ghoulish holiday!
A really cute and fun Halloween craft my family made last year was milk jug ghosts. You simply get a gallon jug of milk, empty it, and fill the jug with white Christmas lights. After you do that you simply want to draw on the face of the ghost on the jug. Something as simple as two eyes and a mouth make the cute ghost jugs complete. You can line them along a path or in windows for festive fun.
Another cute craft ideas is to take pots or planters, paint them orange, and turn them upside down. Once you do that you simply paint them with the face of a Jack-o-lantern! Place a twig through the hole in the pot for a "stem" and you have an adorable Jack-o-lantern that will never spoil or go bad! These are great for porches, outside steps and decor for the front yard.
A really simple craft that is super cute and great if you are throwing a Halloween party is to take a while pillow case and use it as chair cover. All you have to do is apply some felt in the shape of bats, ghosts, or Jack-o-lantern faces to the pillow case. You have very cute and very festive Halloween chair covers!

How To Create an Awesome Craft Show Display

Thousands of craft shows take place across the nation every year, and with good reason. Many people like to shop for unique, handmade accents that will add depth to their homes. If you are one of many vendors participating in a craft show this year, you are likely thinking of ideas to create a spectacular display. After all, you do want to draw customers in. The set up of your booth is likely to determine how much merchandise you can display, so be sure to pay attention to the vendor contract specifics.

Setting Up Your Display

There are a few crucial things that you will need in order to create your display: Tables- most spaces accommodate 6' tables, so be sure to have these on hand if they are not provided by the producers of the show. Table cloths- most shows require that you have cloths that extend to the base of the table. Not only does this create a professional appearance, but it also allows you to store extra merchandise, site unseen. Displays- While it may be enticing to put all of your stuff on a flat table, you will definitely want to invest in some tiered displays. This will keep your table from looking unorganized and will also provide some extra room to display your items.

Signs - if you do not have one already, have a few signs made up. Small signs you can make yourself for listing prices and such. You will also need a banner to drape across the front of your table, or hang up behind you. The banner will list your company name and display a few of your best photographs of your products. Promotional Materials - this is important because you want your customers to be able to find you after the show is over. Consider bringing business cards and promotional brochures. Once you have all of these items, you will want to do a mock display in your garage or driveway. Be sure to take pictures so that when the day of the craft show arrives, you are prepared.

How To Choose the Right Type of Craft Paint for Wood Crafts

The kind of paint that is best suited for painting on wood surface such as pine wood, poplar or birch would be an acrylic type of paint. You can purchase this paint at a large craft chain such as Michael's or AC Moore. These types of craft stores have an isle filled with different brands of acrylic paints to choose from. So which do you choose?

Simple answer is to buy several brands of craft paint and use them. This will be the only way you find out which brand you will like to work with. Experiment with the acrylic paint and see if it performs the way you want for the price you paid for it. Is it creamy and does it cover in one coat if you need it to? Sometimes purchasing the cheapest brand paint can be a waste of your money. It could be too watery for what you need it for. I have also found that even my favorite brand acrylic paint has certain colors that act differently when you paint with them. I needed orange acrylic paint once and had to buy a big batch of it. I decided to buy several different brands of orange and test them on my Halloween wood projects I was making. One brand was watery and another needed two coats just to cover the wood base before I could paint on my detail. Sometimes its the actual color itself that makes it a different consistency. I had an order to paint a massive amount of black items such as cats and witches one time for a gift shop in Salem, Ma. Because I was getting regular orders for painting these wood items in black I decided to skip buying my acrylic at the craft store and head right to the hardware paint store. My favorite for a nice brand quality paint is Benjamin Moore by the quart or the gallon.

Because I was using black acrylic it wasn't a popular color and it sometimes it would not be in stock. No worries, I just ordered it in advance with the paint shop. I indeed saved money by going this route of buying acrylic craft paint. I was happy because it was quality paint and it was also economical. Even though I bought black in gallon quantities it was still the same kind, if not better acrylic paint purchased in the craft store. So the bottom line when deciding on the type of craft paint is that it has to be what you expect by the texture. As long as it's not too thin or too thick it will work fine for the job. Ordinarily you should not have to clear coat in acrylics if your wood piece is being displayed outside.

Learn How To Sell At Craft Shows And Turn Your Crafts Into Your Goldmine Of Cash

There are quite a few people who are wondering just how to sell at craft shows. They're making some cool crafts; their friends love their crafts, whatever they happen to be, and they've been told they really should start marketing them.

Well, once you've got some good crafts that people are willing to pay money for, usually the next step is setting up a craft fair display at some local craft shows. This helps you see if you have a wide enough market for your unique items and if so, you should make enough money to invest it into turning your crafts hobby into a nice little business to make some extra cash.

So how do you find out how to sell at craft shows? A couple of ways actually. The first thing you should do is visit some local craft fair events. This will give you an idea of what's selling and how other crafters are setting up their craft fair booths.

Once you're pretty sure that your craft items should sell, you need to know how to sell at craft shows so you actually will sell some of your items. So get a list of craft fair events around in your area. It's better to start out with some of the events that don't charge a lot for a table or space to set up.

One part of learning how to sell at craft shows is deciding what items to take and how many of them you're going to take with you. You want to have enough on hand to sell, but you also don't want it to take forever to set up.

Put together some test craft fair displays at home a couple of times to get a feel for how to set it up. You'll need to know how long it's going to take you get your tables ready for the public so you're ready by the time the event opens. You don't want to still be setting up while browsers are trying to see what you're selling.

This may be one of the key aspects in how to sell at crafts shows. If you're still setting up your booth after the show has started, you're not only jeopardizing your own sales, you may actually be disturbing your neighbor's ability to make sales too.

Browsers and potential buyers may avoid your corner because you're not set up yet, and that will actually deter some good foot traffic to those who are set up around you. So you want to be courteous - be on time, know what you're doing, and be ready for the potential buyers before the doors open.

You also want to make sure that your craft fair booth or table is inviting to the visitors, who are also your potential buyers. If your booth or table is attractive, people will be curious and interested in what you have to sell.

And if you've done your research and you've learned how to sell at craft shows, you should have very successful turnouts and cash for your efforts.
